What visitors mention
Clonlea Reserve holds Gawler's main fenced off-leash dog park, set on the banks of the North Para River at Willaston. It is fully enclosed with separate large-dog and small-dog runs, which is what makes it the go-to for a secure run in town.
The rules. This is a fenced off-leash area, so dogs can run free inside the enclosure while staying under your voice or visual control. Use the double airlock gates properly, both closed behind you, so nothing slips out. Pick up after your dog and bin it, and leash and remove any dog that turns aggressive. Beyond the fence line, the wider reserve is on-leash.
What's there. The enclosure has a drinking fountain with a tilt-tray dog bowl, a shelter with seating for owners, and grassed mounds and feature logs for the dogs to work. Bins are on site. The dedicated small-dog section gives puppies and little breeds a safe space away from the big runners. The surrounding reserve adds BBQs, picnic tables, public toilets and the North Para River walking trail.
Getting there. It is on Murray Road, Willaston, on the northern side of Gawler, with on-site parking at the reserve. Gawler Central station is roughly a 20 to 30 minute walk, so the train plus a short stroll works if you are coming without a car.

Watch-outs. The grass and open ground can get hot underfoot in an Adelaide summer. On extreme-heat days, come at dawn or dusk when the surface has cooled and skip the midday sun.
Nearby with the dogs. Gawler's main street cafes welcome dogs at their outdoor tables, including The Javahut and Café Nova. For a pet-friendly overnight, the Gawler Caravan Park has dog-friendly cabins.
Early mornings before work and late afternoons from about 4:30pm are the busiest, along with weekend mornings. If your dog is nervous or prefers a smaller crowd, aim for mid-morning or early afternoon on a weekday.
