The Javahut

The Javahut is a busy all-day cafe on Gawler's Murray Street, and its early opening and footpath seating make it a reliable breakfast stop after a morning walk with the dog.

The dog setup. Well-behaved dogs are welcome at the outdoor footpath tables out front; inside is not for pets. Staff are accommodating and known to bring water bowls out, but pack your own to be sure.

Good to know. It opens early, around 6am most days, and runs a big menu of all-day breakfast, hearty pancakes and lunch, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. It is a popular local spot, so tables turn over quickly.

Getting there. It sits at 69-71 Murray Street. There is street parking directly out front, with council car parks nearby if the main street is full.

Nearby with the dogs. The historic main-street walk and central Gawler paths toward the river are right there. For an off-leash run, the fenced Clonlea Reserve dog park is a short drive.

Get in early for a quiet footpath table; it is at its busiest through the weekend brunch rush.
