Forest Lake Sports Fields Fenced Dog Park

The Forest Lake Sports Fields dog park sits on College Avenue and is run by Brisbane City Council. It is a double-gated, off-leash enclosure with separate runs for large and small dogs, established shade and lighting for early or late sessions. The size separation is the defining feature, and it makes this a safe bet if your dog is timid or still learning manners.

The rules

Dogs must be under effective voice control inside the off-leash pens, and leashed on the way in and out and anywhere on the surrounding sports fields. Close the double gates properly behind you, stay in the park with your dog, and keep dogs that are aggressive, sick or in heat out entirely.

Clean up after your dog, with bins on site. Keep children close, since this is a busy play space with fast-moving dogs.

What's there

Expect grassy, well-maintained pens with basic agility gear such as ramps and weave poles, water taps and bowls, shaded benches, and lighting that makes evening visits work. The puppy socialisation crowd that uses the small-dog run is one of the regular draws.

Max: Sundays get busy in the large-dog pen. If your dog is small or nervous, come mid-morning on a weekday when the run is calmer.

Getting there

There is a dedicated, accessible car park right beside the sports fields. TransLink buses along College Avenue and Forest Lake Boulevard drop you within a short walk.

Close by with the dogs

The Woogaroo Reserve Fenced Dog Park on Brighton Parade is the suburb's other fenced option, and the Pallara Park Fenced Dog Park is a short drive south. For a post-park brew, Simple Bliss Coffee on The Esplanade welcomes dogs on its deck.

When to go

Weekday mid-mornings and mid-afternoons are quietest, and weekends build through the morning. In summer aim for before 8am or after 5pm, when the lighting keeps the park usable. Good for social dogs who want room to run.
