Fremont Small Dog Park

Fremont Small Dog Park is the fenced small-dog enclosure inside Fremont Park on Yorktown Road, Elizabeth Park, giving timid or petite dogs their own secure run away from the bigger dogs next door.

The rules. The small dog area is fenced and gated separately from the large dog park, and it is meant to be used for dogs on the smaller side so nervous or elderly dogs are not overwhelmed. Keep an eye on the gate latch on the way in and out, locals note it needs a firm close, and pick up after your dog every time.

What's there. Open grassed ground with established shade trees, park benches for owners, a drinking fountain with a low dog bowl attachment, and a public toilet block right next to the dog park. Bring your own water bowl as a backup since fountains can be temperamental.

Getting there. The park sits at 33-34 Yorktown Road, Elizabeth Park SA 5113, opposite Centacare. On-street parking runs along Yorktown Road, and it is close to bus stops on the same street, a short walk from Elizabeth City Centre.

Nearby with the dogs. Elizabeth City Centre is about a kilometre away with cafes and takeaway options, some with outdoor seating, plus Drakes Elizabeth Park for supplies on the way home.

Best visited on a weekday, daytime is quietest and Tuesday evenings tend to be the calmest slot of the week. Sunday mornings and weekday early evenings draw the biggest crowds. Good for small or nervous dogs that need room without a big-dog crowd.
