Fremont Small Dog Park

Fremont Small Dog Park is the fenced small-dog enclosure inside Fremont Park on Yorktown Road, Elizabeth Park, giving timid or petite dogs their own secure run away from the big dogs next door. It sits within one of Playford's main recreation parks, so a trip here comes with playgrounds, barbecues and a duck pond in the same visit.

The dog setup

The small dog area is fenced and gated separately from the large dog park, and it is meant for dogs on the smaller side so nervous or elderly dogs are not overwhelmed. The ground is open grassed space with established shade trees and benches for owners, and a drinking fountain with a low dog bowl attachment sits nearby. Bring a bowl as a backup, because fountains here can be temperamental.

Locals note the gate latch needs a firm close, so check it behind you on the way in and out. Waste bins are provided on site and clean-up is expected every time. Only dogs that genuinely fit the small-dog brief should use this yard; bigger dogs belong in the adjoining enclosure across the park.

Max: if your dog is easily overwhelmed by big players, this is the better of the two Fremont yards. Close that latch properly though.

The wider Fremont Park has modern playgrounds with a flying fox, free barbecues with sheltered seating, an outdoor gym, and paved walking paths around the central duck pond, so it works well for households splitting time between kids and dogs.
