Fremont Large Dog Park

Fremont Large Dog Park is the big-dog half of the fenced dog park at Fremont Park on Yorktown Road, Elizabeth Park, in Adelaide's north. It is a spacious grassed run with its own gated entry, sharing the facility with a small-dog enclosure next door so the two crowds never have to negotiate.

The dog setup

Dogs run off-leash only inside the fenced boundary, with owners staying present and keeping voice control. The entry is double-gated, so work through both gates before unclipping, and bin your dog's waste in the bins on site. If a dog turns aggressive, the expectation is a straight leash-up and exit. The run itself is mostly open grass with mature shade trees and benches around the edge. Water fountains are generally available but can be patchy, so a portable bowl earns its place in the car.

Worth knowing

The ground dries out and hardens through a South Australian summer, which is rough on joints and paws, so an early morning or evening visit beats midday. Weekends, especially Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons, draw the biggest crowd; weekday mornings and evenings are the calm slots if you want the run almost to yourselves. The wider Fremont Park grounds add walking trails, a duck pond, a large playground and a public toilet block, all of which make an outing here easier than the run alone would suggest.

The dog park sits near the corner of Main North Road and Yorktown Road, Elizabeth Park SA 5113. Free off-street parking is available at the Fremont Park playground car park, and the main Elizabeth transit routes along Main North Road keep it reachable without a car.
