Edmonton Dog Park is the fenced off-leash area inside Fuller Park on Wolff Street, serving Edmonton and the southern Cairns suburbs. The whole fenced section is off-leash, with mature trees for shade and free parking right next to the gate.
The rules. Only the fenced, south-western section of Fuller Park is off-leash. Dogs must be leashed on the walk from the car park to the gate, and owners must keep dogs under effective voice control even once they are off-leash inside. Clean up after your dog. Dogs are not permitted on the playground or on sporting fields while those areas are in use.
What's there. A secure chain-link fence separates the off-leash area from Wolff Street, and established trees give afternoon shade over part of the grass. Nearby (outside the fenced area) there is a playground, a basketball court and a public toilet block, plus a wheelchair-accessible car park.
Getting there. The park is on Wolff Street, Edmonton, just off the Bruce Highway, behind the fire station area. Parking is free and off-street, right beside the fenced area. Local bus routes run along the main road through Edmonton if you are without a car.
Nearby with the dogs. Mount Peter Foodstore & Take Away and Sim's Takeaway and Cafe both allow dogs in their outdoor seating and are a short drive away for a post-park feed. For an overnight stay, Barrier Reef Tourist Park takes dogs on its caravan and ensuite sites.

When to go. Weekday mornings and late weekend mornings are quietest; Saturday mornings draw the biggest crowd. In the build-up to the wet season, aim for early morning or late afternoon to dodge the worst of the heat, and use the tree line for shade breaks.
