Powerhouse Park

Powerhouse Park is Tamworth's most complete dog facility. Tamworth Regional Council designates it as a leash-free area anchored by a fully fenced dog park, set on the corner of Carthage Street and Kitchener Street in East Tamworth, open around the clock. For a regional city, it is a serious setup: two separate fenced enclosures, agility equipment, shade, seating and toilets all on the one site.

Leash status and the fenced runs

The two enclosures split small dogs from large, which takes the worry out of mixing a cavoodle with a mastiff, and the agility course inside gives high-energy dogs a job to do. Council's conditions are the standard pair: dogs must be under effective control and owners must pick up waste. Outside the fences the leash-free designation continues across the park's open range area, so the exercise does not have to stop at the gate, though the fenced section is where most owners let the lead off.
