Devon Park Dog Play Area

The dog play space on Simpson Avenue in Devon Park sits beside the Devon Park Playground and oval in Adelaide's inner north, and its signature feature is the sandy patches that give dogs somewhere to legitimately dig. It is a quick leg-stretch stop for local owners rather than a destination park, and the playground next door makes it a natural family circuit.

Leash zoning around the oval is not published in fine detail, so check the council's dog leash map before a first visit rather than guessing. Mornings and late afternoons are the comfortable windows in summer, and the sandy dig zones drain quickly after rain compared with a purely grassed reserve.

Getting there and parking

The play area fronts Simpson Avenue in Devon Park, with kerbside parking in the surrounding residential streets. Prospect Road's cafe strip is a couple of minutes away, and the suburb sits between the Torrens corridor and the Port Adelaide direction, so it slots easily into an inner-north loop.

While you're out there

The William Lawson Park Dog Park in Prospect is the closest dedicated dog park, and the Prospect cafe strip handles the food stop: Toast Cafe and Frankly Bagels both sit along the same strip.
