Adam Street Reserve

The short version. Adam Street Reserve is a grassy off-leash exercise area in North Curl Curl, sitting just behind the dunes beside the North Curl Curl Community Centre and close to Curl Curl Lagoon. It is a flat, open run for energetic dogs, with the lagoon foreshore a short walk on for a cool-down.

The rules. The reserve is an off-leash area, but it is not fully fenced, particularly near the road entrance, so keep your dog in visual contact and under voice control. Dogs must be on-lead in the car park and on surrounding footpaths, and they are not allowed in the children's play areas, on sports fields when in use, or on the sand of North Curl Curl Beach. Council rules cap it at four dogs per person, and you need to pick up after your dog; bag dispensers are on-site.

What's there. Mostly flat grass with some surrounding trees for shade, waste bag dispensers and bins, a water fountain with a dog-bowl attachment, and a few park benches. It links through to the lagoon and the wider Curl Curl off-leash reserves.

Getting there. Come in off Pittwater Road via Abbott Road, following signs for North Curl Curl Beach and turning onto Adam Street. There is free street parking on Adam Street and near the community centre, but it gets very busy on sunny weekends and through summer. Buses on the Pittwater Road corridor stop within a short walk.

When to go. Weekend mornings from about 8 to 11am and summer weekday evenings are the busy, sociable window. For a timid dog, aim for a weekday or early morning when there is more room. Good for high-energy dogs that want a flat open run with a lagoon rinse nearby.
