Adam Street Reserve

Adam Street Reserve is a grassy off-leash exercise area in North Curl Curl, sitting behind the dunes beside the North Curl Curl Community Centre, a flat open run for energetic dogs with Curl Curl Lagoon a short walk away for a cool-down. Northern Beaches Council designates it a 24-hour off-leash area, which makes it one of the few northern beaches grounds where late-night exercise is legitimate.

The dog setup

The reserve is off-leash but not fully fenced, particularly near the road entrance, so keep your dog in visual contact and under voice control. Dogs go back on lead in the car park and on surrounding footpaths, and they are not allowed in the children's play areas, on sports fields while in use, or on the sand of North Curl Curl Beach. Council caps it at four dogs per person, and you need to bag and bin any mess, with dispensers on site. There is mostly flat grass with some shade trees, a water fountain with a dog-bowl attachment, a few benches, and the public toilet block by the community centre.

Max: the gap near the road entrance is the thing to watch here. If your dog has a shaky recall, keep them on lead until you are well onto the grass and away from the traffic edge.

The vibe

Weekend mornings from about 8 to 11am and summer weekday evenings are the busy, sociable window, and free street parking gets very competitive on sunny weekends. For a timid dog, aim for a weekday or an early morning when there is more room. Soccer and training sessions take over the sportsfield at times, in which case the shared path along the reserve's northern edge still gives you a run. This is a good ground for high-energy dogs that want flat space first and a lagoon rinse after.

Getting there and parking

Come in off Pittwater Road via Abbott Road, following signs for North Curl Curl Beach and turning onto Adam Street. Free street parking sits on Adam Street and near the community centre, and buses along the Pittwater Road corridor stop within a short walk, so a car-free trip is workable.

Close by with the dogs

Flora and Ritchie Roberts Reserve continues the off-leash run along the lagoon corridor, and Manly Lagoon Dog Park is just south. For coffee, Curly's on the Corner on Pitt Road has a big dog-friendly outdoor deck a short stroll away.
