Getting there. From central Townsville it is roughly a 15-20 minute drive to Arinya St, Cranbrook. It sits in a residential pocket, so if you are relying on public transport, expect a walk from the nearest bus stop.

Nearby with the dogs. Cafes along Riverway Drive in Aitkenvale (about five minutes away) often have outdoor seating that welcomes dogs, and there are a few pet-friendly motels around Aitkenvale if you need somewhere to stay.

When to go. Weekday mornings and early afternoons are the quietest. Sunday evenings and Wednesday-Thursday afternoons tend to draw the biggest crowds. Good for confident swimmers; keep smaller or nervous dogs closer to shore, especially after rain.
