Dog Off-Leash Area 210-217

A long, clean stretch of off-leash surf beach at Buddina, running between beach access points 210 and 217 (roughly Mawarra Avenue to Talinga Street). The draw is the run of open sand: dogs are permitted off-leash on the beach at all times, and it rarely feels crowded once you spread out.

The rules. Off-leash applies to the sand only, not the dunes or the parkland behind. Keep the lead on until you are through the access point, and your dog under voice control on the beach. The dunes are a sensitive environmental zone and off-limits, restricted breeds are not permitted, and you must pick up after your dog. Sunshine Coast Council's updated dog access rules take effect 3 July 2026, so read the on-site signage before you commit.

The water and sand. This is open, unpatrolled surf, so judge the conditions before a swim. Low tide gives the widest, hard-packed sand for running and fetch; at high tide the beach narrows and space gets tight.

What's there. Beach access is via stairways and walkways between the houses, with showers near accesses 210 and 213, public bins by the access points, and a few benches along the boardwalk. Facilities on the sand itself are minimal, so come prepared.

Getting there. Access via Pacific Boulevard, Buddina, with street parking that can fill during peak hours. The coastal boardwalk runs parallel for walk-up access, and Sunbus routes on Nicklin Way are a short walk from the Pacific Boulevard accesses.

Nearby with the dogs. Cafes near Kawana Shoppingworld offer outdoor dog-friendly seating a short drive away, and Buddina has plenty of pet-friendly holiday rentals if you are staying over.

Best early on a weekend morning before 7:30 or on a weekday afternoon at low tide, when the sand is widest and the beach quietest. Good for big runners and confident swimmers.
