Balcombe Heights Reserve Fenced Dog Park

The fenced dog park at Balcombe Heights Reserve sits inside the Balcombe Heights Estate on Hodgson Crescent, Baulkham Hills, within a large sporting and community precinct. It is one of the better-set-up enclosures in the Hills, with high steel-bar fencing, double-gated entries, and two zones that keep the big, active dogs apart from the small and timid ones.

The dog setup

Off-leash applies inside the enclosure, with the lead on everywhere else in the reserve. Your dog must be with a capable person over 16 and under voice control at all times, with a limit of four dogs per person. Restricted breeds and any dog declared dangerous are not permitted in the off-leash area. Clean up immediately, bins are provided.

Inside the fence there is a water bubbler with a dog bowl, gazebo shelters with benches, and surrounding trees for shade. Low bar jumps and agility obstacles sit in the main enclosure; the surface is mostly grass, kept tidy but worn around the agility gear. Public toilets are nearby over by the cricket pitch.

Max: pick your gate carefully. The big-dog side draws the ball-chasers, and the small-dog side is a better fit for a nervous newcomer even if yours is technically medium sized.

The vibe

Weekday afternoons and quieter weeknights, particularly Monday and Wednesday evenings, are the calmest windows. It gets busy Saturday mornings, Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings. The park is nominally 24/7, but with no lighting it is really a daylight venue. Suits dogs who like agility gear and owners who want a properly fenced, size-separated run.

Getting there and parking

Drive in via Hodgson Crescent; there is ample free parking inside the estate close to the fenced entrance. On public transport, the nearest bus stops are on Seven Hills Road or Jasper Road, a moderate walk through the park.

Close by with the dogs

Coolong Reserve at Castle Hill is the other well-regarded fenced option with agility apparatus, and Crestwood Reserve covers the other side of Baulkham Hills. Arise is a nearby coffee stop for after.
