Hann Creek Off-leash Dog Park

Hann Creek Off-leash Dog Park is a fully fenced dog park inside Hanns Creek Reserve on Frankston-Flinders Road, Balnarring, mixing open grassy paddocks for running with a wooded, sniff-friendly corner. The double-gate entry is the standout feature: a proper airlock so dogs cannot bolt while you're getting the lead off.

The rules. The off-leash area applies only inside the fenced perimeter; dogs must be leashed in the surrounding bushland and car park. Dogs should be fully vaccinated before visiting, kept under control at all times, and owners are expected to clean up after them (bags are provided).

What's there. A large gravel car park sits at the entrance. Inside the fence there's a covered shelter with a barbecue and picnic tables, plus public toilets, water taps and poop bag dispensers. Seating inside the fenced area itself is limited, so more picnic tables are set up outside.

Getting there. The park is on Frankston-Flinders Road a short drive from Balnarring Village, with ample parking in the gravel lot right off the road. Public transport is limited; the nearest train station is Hastings on the Frankston line, which still needs a taxi or bus onward to Balnarring.

Nearby with the dogs. Village People in Balnarring Village is a well-regarded local cafe with plenty of outdoor seating. Several wineries around nearby Red Hill allow dogs in their outdoor areas too, and there are pet-friendly holiday cottages around Balnarring Beach if you're staying over.

Crowd tips. The park is generally quiet, with weekend mornings and sunny afternoons the busiest times. Mid-week, late morning or early afternoon is the quieter option. Hann Creek itself is inland, so there's no water on site, but Balnarring Beach is a few minutes' drive away if you want a swim afterwards, with off-leash access typically outside peak summer hours over December to February, confirm current signage before you go.
