Two Sisters on High Yackandandah

Two Sisters on High is an all-day cafe at 23 High Street in the middle of Yackandandah, a heritage gold-rush town between Beechworth and Wodonga. It is known for high tea, house-baked cakes in a large glass cabinet and proper devonshire tea with scones and jam, plus plates like corn fritters. For dog travellers, the drawcard is the row of footpath tables out front on the main street.

The dog setup

The practical dog option is the outdoor footpath seating; as with most High Street cafes the dining room itself is indoors, so plan on sitting outside with your dog on a lead. We could not find a published dog policy, so confirm at the door on your first visit, and carry a water bowl since staff help is a bonus rather than a promise on busy days.

The vibe

Expect a converted heritage space with comfortable chairs and a strong local following, popular with day-trippers riding the Beechworth to Yackandandah rail trail. Mornings are the quiet window for an outside table; weekends and school holidays fill up quickly.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits on the town's main street with kerbside parking out front and on the side streets. Hours run 8:30am to 3pm Wednesday through Sunday, closed Monday and Tuesday, so time a dog-friendly stop accordingly.

Make a day of it

The Yackandandah Creek walking track is a short stroll from the cafe for an on-lead leg-stretch before coffee. If you are staying overnight, Yackandandah Holiday Park takes dogs, and nearby Beechworth has more dog-friendly coffee at Coffee Staines and tiny of beechworth.
