Colby Cottages is a trio of self-contained, dog-friendly cottages set on 14 fenced acres in the Wooragee Valley, between Beechworth and Yackandandah. The pet policy. Well-behaved, house-trained dogs are welcome inside all three cottages at no additional charge. The property boundary is fully fenced, with the exception of a small gap at the driveway entrance, so you need to manage your dog around that access point. Inside the cottages, dogs are strictly not permitted on beds or furniture. You also cannot leave your dog locked inside the cottage unattended while you head out. Confirm the exact terms directly with the hosts at the time of booking to ensure policies have not changed.

The place. The property offers three distinct, private accommodations: Miners, Captains, and Orchard. Each comes with full kitchen facilities, a fireplace for the colder months, and wide verandahs. Miners and Captains cottages also feature an enclosed back verandah, which is highly useful for containing your dog safely while you are enjoying the outdoor space. The 14 acres includes a seasonal dam for walking around, though be aware it can be dry depending on recent rainfall.

Location & nearby. Situated roughly 10 to 15 minutes by car from Beechworth and a short drive from Yackandandah, the cottages sit right near the Beechworth to Yackandandah rail trail, making it an excellent base for walking. Who it suits. This venue is ideal for owners of active, sociable dogs who want off-leash paddock time. Because dogs cannot be left locked inside alone, it is not suitable for travellers planning long, dog-free day trips.

When to go. Autumn and spring offer the best weather for covering the local rail trail and regional walking tracks. The cottage fireplaces make winter stays equally appealing.
