What visitors mention
The Social @ IPAC is a relaxed all-day cafe and bar inside the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre at 32 Burelli Street in the Wollongong CBD. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor alfresco seating in the arts precinct, so it works for coffee or a pre-show meal with the dog along.
The dog setup. Dogs join you at the outdoor tables in the precinct, not inside the venue. The open arts-centre forecourt gives a bit more room than a tight footpath. Bring your own water bowl, as one is not guaranteed.
Good to know. The menu is all-day: salads, sandwiches and sweet treats, plus local beers and wines, run by the Trippas White Group. It is a popular spot for a drink or bite before a Merrigong Theatre show.
Getting there. The Social is at the IPAC on Burelli Street, central in the CBD. Street parking nearby is paid and time-limited; the Wollongong Central car parks are a short walk if the kerb is full.
Nearby with the dogs. The CBD streets and the foreshore paths towards the water make for an easy on-lead walk before or after. Coniston Dog Beach, the nearest off-leash sand, is a short drive south.
