Village Vibes Greenwich cafe

Village Vibes is the neighbourhood cafe on Greenwich Road, a few minutes from the harbour foreshore, and it is an easy one for dog owners: the footpath tables out the front are open to dogs on lead. Under new owners with a refreshed menu, it has settled into the role of local morning hub, where regulars collect bacon and egg rolls and their dogs collect a share of the attention.

Keep your dog leashed and tucked in beside your chair so the footpath stays clear for passing prams. Water bowls are typically provided on request, and the staff have a reputation for being easy with dogs, but on a hot morning bring your own bowl as backup.

The vibe

The kitchen runs a tight breakfast and lunch list: bacon and egg rolls, chicken avocado sandwiches, acai bowls and burgers, with pastries in the cabinet and specialty coffee to match. Reviews consistently point at the flat whites and the relaxed, kind service, and the crowd is mostly locals on foot from the surrounding streets. Weekday mornings are the quiet sit; Saturday runs until early afternoon and fills quickly.

Getting there

The cafe is at Shop 1, 93 Greenwich Road, Greenwich. Street parking runs along Greenwich Road, so check the signage for time limits, and for anyone in Greenwich, Wollstonecraft or Longueville it is an easy walk or a short ride. It opens early, from 6:30am on weekdays and 7am on weekends, and closes mid afternoon.

While you're out there

Greenwich's harbourside off leash area near Shell Park is a short walk up Greenwich Road for a run before or after coffee, and the Waverton Park to Balls Head Reserve loop is a few minutes' drive for a proper harbour walk. If you are making a day of it, Birdwood Cafe in Lane Cove and Third Rail in Waverton are both dog friendly and nearby.
