A CBD juice and brunch bar where the dogs sit out front. The Beet Bar at 21 Stokes Street is a bright, casual spot built around fresh juices, smoothies and acai bowls, open seven days from early. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor footpath tables, not inside the air-conditioned room.

The dog setup. Bring your dog to the street-side seating and order from there. Staff are used to dogs and water bowls are usually about, but the footpath spots are limited and exposed, so a collapsible bowl and a shady slot are worth having on a hot Townsville day.

Known for. Made-to-order juices and smoothies, the acai bowls, and a solid run of gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan options. Quick, grab-and-go friendly if you would rather walk and eat.

Getting there and parking. Right in the heart of the CBD. Free and paid street parking runs along Stokes Street and the surrounding blocks, and it is an easy on-lead walk if you are already in town.

Nearby with the dog. Queens Gardens is a short stroll for an on-lead wander through the heritage botanic gardens, and The Strand promenade is a short walk or quick drive for a longer coastal leg (on-lead, and off the patrolled swimming beach).

Footpath tables in the CBD bake by mid-morning. Get in early or pick the shaded end, and keep water up to your dog.

Best on a cooler morning before the lunch rush. Good for a quick refuel mid-walk rather than a long sit.
