Cody's Coffee Shack is a beach-themed coffee shack at 400 Esplanade, Torquay, sitting directly opposite the sand on the Hervey Bay foreshore. It opens early (from 5:30am most days), and the reason to bring the dog is simple: covered outdoor tables a few steps from the water, a long walking path right out front, and a kitchen that is squarely set up for dogs.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor footpath tables, which are shaded by umbrellas so your dog is out of the sun. Water bowls are provided, and the spot is regularly praised by locals for how it handles dogs. Keep your dog on lead, as the tables sit beside a busy Esplanade.

Good to know. The coffee, iced coffee and chai are the draws, with bacon and egg wraps and cookies the popular orders. It is a casual, relaxed spot rather than a sit-down cafe, so it suits a quick stop on a coastal walk.

Getting there. Free street parking runs along the Esplanade out front. It can fill on weekend mornings, so the early opening hours are worth using.

Nearby with the dogs. Torquay Beach and the foreshore path are directly across the road, so you can string a beach walk onto either end of your coffee. Several of the off-lead zones along the Hervey Bay foreshore are a short stroll away, but check the council signage for the exact boundaries before letting your dog off lead.
