THE ORCHARD HILLS CAFE

The Orchard Hills Cafe sits inside the Flower Power garden centre on The Northern Road, and it is one of the few venues in Sydney's west where the dog is welcome beyond a footpath table: leashed dogs are permitted through the outdoor cafe seating and the surrounding nursery grounds, so a visit doubles as a slow sniff-and-browse among the plants.

A small playground nearby keeps kids occupied while you finish your coffee. Hours run 8:30am to 4pm daily, and weekday mornings are the quietest time to bring a dog through the nursery.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is at 1794-1802 The Northern Road, Orchard Hills, with free on-site parking right at the door. The centre is a short drive from Penrith and St Marys, and flat access from the car park makes it easy with a dog in tow.

Make a day of it

The Bill Spilstead Complex for Canine Affairs in the same suburb is the obvious pairing for anyone serious about dogs, and the Werrington dog off-leash area adds a simple off-lead run a few minutes south.
