Piknik is a roadside cafe, nursery and pantry on the Bellarine Highway, the kind of stopover that breaks up the Geelong to Queenscliff drive nicely. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor courtyard, which is the main draw for anyone travelling with one.

Dog setup. The outdoor courtyard and front seating area are dog-friendly. Indoor tables are for humans only, but the covered outdoor sections give some shelter if the weather turns. Keep dogs leashed and under control, water bowls are generally available but it is worth bringing your own just in case.

Known for. Solid brunch and coffee, a browseable plant nursery next door, and local produce in the pantry. It is more of a rustic rest stop than a destination in itself, which suits a dog walk break well.

Nearby with the dogs. Point Lonsdale Dog Beach and Queenscliff's foreshore and pier walks are both a short drive away if you want to turn the stop into a proper outing.

When to go. Weekday mornings are quieter than weekend brunch rushes. Good for a leg-stretch and coffee on the way through rather than a long sit-down visit.
