Grounded Society

Grounded Society is a small espresso and snack bar at Shop 5, 119-121 Toolooa Street, South Gladstone, next door to the Australia Post office, and it is one of the more openly dog-friendly spots in Gladstone: the owners describe themselves as doggo friendly and serving puppicinos on the daily. It opens well before 6am on weekdays and runs as a morning-to-early-afternoon operation, with shorter weekend hours, so check the Facebook page before a weekend run.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor and footpath seating out the front, where staff keep water bowls going and will make your dog a puppicino, so you can leave the travel bowl at home. Indoor seating is service animals only, which is standard for a food venue. The footpath tables sit close to Toolooa Street traffic, so a dog that settles under a chair works best.

Worth knowing

The drinks list is the point of difference: specialty coffee alongside matcha blends, a tiramisu iced latte and rotating seasonal cold foams, with a baked goods case for quick bites. There is no dedicated dog menu beyond the puppicinos, but between the water bowls and the front-of-house attitude this is an easy social-dog stop. Weekday mid-morning is the quiet window; the coffee rush and weekend mornings are busier.

Getting there and parking

Toolooa Street is the main run through South Gladstone, with street parking and nearby bays generally straightforward outside peak coffee times. It is an easy walk from the surrounding residential blocks.

Close by with the dogs

Webb Park Fenced Dog Park in West Gladstone is the closest secure off-lead yard, and down the coast Tannum Sands Dog Beach and Second Beach give the dog a proper swim on a Gladstone-area day trip.
