The Commons Cafe

The Commons Cafe sits at Cricket Central, Cricket NSW's home ground at 161 Silverwater Road, and it is open to the public as well as the sports crowd. It is a bright, relaxed cafe doing proper coffee and cafe food, with dog-friendly outdoor seating, and watching cricket drift past while you eat is part of the deal.

The dog setup

Dogs are allowed outside, so plan on the outdoor tables rather than indoors. Bring your own water bowl to be safe, and settle your dog clear of the comings and goings at the centre. The precinct is spacious and the outdoor area is generous by suburban cafe standards, which makes it an easier sit than most Silverwater options.

Worth knowing

The menu covers breakfast through lunch with omelettes, small plates and sweet treats, plus milkshakes and a fresh smoothie list, and the coffee is the consistent highlight in reviews, with regulars happy to detour for it. Service friendliness varies at peak times per reviewers, but the atmosphere is casual and comfortable, and families and solo workers mix easily. Hours are 7am to 4pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 3pm weekends, so it works for early breakfasts as well as lunch.

Getting there and parking

The centre has ample on-site parking, so getting a dog from car to table is straightforward, and street parking nearby is free. For the walk either side, Deakin Park Fenced Dog Park is a short drive away for secure off-lead time, the river-fronted Wyatt Park Fenced Dog Park at Lidcombe is the next option over, and Big Tree House Cafe at Rydalmere is the neighbouring dog-friendly cafe pick.
