Mr Pilgrim Cafe

Mr Pilgrim Cafe holds a front row seat on Semaphore Road, the strip that runs from the Adelaide coast road down towards the sea. It opens 7:30am to 3pm Tuesday through Sunday and closes Mondays, so weekends are its natural habitat. The kitchen has built a following on corn and zucchini fritters, potato rosti and a proper dirty chai, and the staff have a habit of remembering both your name and your dog's.

The dog setup. The indoor dining room stays humans only, so the footpath tables are the ones to aim for, and they are comfortable enough to linger over a second round of hot chips.

The menu runs well past breakfast. Fritters are the signature, the steak sandwich is a solid lunch call, and the hot chips are worth ordering even if nobody at the table is five years old. Service is quick and the coffee holds up, which keeps the regulars cycling through the door all morning.
