Coffee Society Rockhampton

Coffee Society runs from 1/126 East Street in the Rockhampton CBD, a busy, long-standing city cafe where the deal for dog owners is simple: the footpath seating directly out front is yours, and only assistance dogs go inside. Hours are early-shift, from 5:30am weekdays and 6am weekends, closing around 2pm, with the kitchen winding up sooner.

The dog setup

Staff are good with dogs and usually bring a water bowl out to the footpath tables, which matters on a tropical Queensland morning. The tables sit on a working CBD footpath, so pick the end seat, keep the lead short and expect passing dogs and shoppers. If the front strip is full, there is no fallback inside, so time your visit mid-morning or on a weekend when the commuter crowd thins.

The menu

The kitchen is one of the more serious ones in town for dietary eating: a separate vegan breakfast and lunch menu alongside extensive vegetarian options and gluten-free choices. The dish people travel for is the chilli eggs benedict with spicy hollandaise, and the cake cabinet is stocked by Rockhampton baker Hey Sugar Cakes by Ayden. The espresso is strong and smooth, with milk alternatives across the drinks list.

Getting there and parking

East Street is in the heart of the CBD, with metered street parking on East Street and the surrounding blocks. Footpath access from your car is short, which keeps a dog-in-tow arrival easy. Weekday mornings run to a commuter rhythm; later or weekend visits are the calm ones.

While you're out there

The Fitzroy River boardwalk and Quay Street heritage strip are a short walk south for a long on-lead lap with water views, which is the natural pairing for this cafe. For an off-lead run, the Wandal off-lead park is a few minutes west. Kinsfolk Coffee at The Range is the pet-friendly second stop south of the river, and Cousins On William is another CBD option.
