Kinsfolk Coffee

Kinsfolk Coffee is a neighbourhood cafe at 1 Meter Street in The Range, a quiet residential pocket south of the Rockhampton CBD. It has built a local following on strong specialty coffee and one of the more plant-forward menus in town, and it is a regular stop for walkers from the surrounding streets. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating out front, which makes an easy pairing with the fenced off-leash park around the corner.

The dog setup

Dogs sit with you at the outdoor seating area at the front of the cafe, and water bowls are typically available or provided on request. The room inside is compact, so plan on the footpath tables with your dog rather than assuming indoor access, and check with staff if the weather pushes everyone under cover. The vibe is casual enough that a settled dog beside the table is a normal sight here, and regulars often arrive on foot with dogs in tow.

The vibe and the menu

The menu leans plant-based, with a large share of the cabinet food vegan, alongside brunch dishes such as the potato hash Benedict and Asian-fusion plates like nasi goreng. Almond croissants and acai bowls also get regular mentions, and the coffee is well regarded. Hours run 6am to 3pm every day, so it works for a pre-work coffee or a late-morning brunch run.

Getting there and parking

Meter Street sits in a residential stretch of The Range, with free on-street parking directly outside. It is an easy walk for locals and a short drive from central Rockhampton; buses through the southern suburbs drop you within a few minutes' walk.

Georgeson Oval is the natural add-on: a fully fenced off-leash area on Pennycuick Street with picnic tables inside the fence and lookout views over the airport runway, roughly a hundred metres from the cafe. Keep your dog leashed until you are inside the fenced zone, as council rules require, and carry a leash at all times.
