Georgeson Oval on Pennycuick Street is The Range's fenced off-leash dog park, with views over the airport runway that make it a genuine sunset spot as well as a place to let your dog run properly.
The rules. Dogs must be leashed entering and leaving the fenced area, then can run off-leash inside it under voice or signal control. Every dog needs a valid Rockhampton Regional Council registration tag. Clean up after your dog immediately, bins are provided, and fill in any holes your dog digs so they do not become a trip hazard for the next visitor. Aggressive or dangerous dogs must be muzzled, and dogs are not permitted within 25 metres of the on-site obedience area during classes.
What's there. The off-leash area is fully fenced, with picnic tables inside it and benches up near the lookout. Natural shade is available and there is often a water fountain on site, though bringing your own bowl is a sensible backup.
Getting there. The oval is at 61 Pennycuick St, The Range, with access also possible via Meter Street, Normanby Terrace, Gardner Street and Hawkins Street. Parking is on the surrounding residential streets, there is no dedicated car park.
Nearby with the dogs. Kinsfolk Coffee is about 100 metres north-northeast, an easy stop for a coffee before or after a run in the fenced area.

Late morning and early afternoon tend to be quieter if your dog needs space. Early mornings, late afternoons and Saturday mornings are the busiest, and the runway views make sunset a popular time too, so head there earlier if you want the fenced area to yourself.
