Surge Espresso & Co

Surge Espresso & Co is a community-focused cafe on Kalaroo Road in the heart of Redhead village, trading 6:30am to 1:30pm weekdays and 7am to midday Saturdays, closed Sundays. It actively welcomes dogs in the outdoor seating and regularly features locals' pups on its socials, which makes it the natural finish to a beach or Fernleigh Track walk.

The dog setup

Dogs settle in the paved, covered outdoor area, with direct access from the footpath so you can arrive without stepping inside. The seating is comfortable enough to park a dog beside the table, and staff are known to bring water and treats on request, occasionally the full pup cup. Keep your dog on lead and out of the thoroughfare while orders land.

Worth knowing

The coffee pulls through Roastville beans and rates as the drawcard, with the ham, cheese and tomato toastie with relish the standout on a menu that also covers avo toast, acai bowls, the Reboot smoothie (mango, banana, pineapple, passionfruit) and raspberry coconut protein balls. Weekday mid-mornings are quiet; weekends bring the village buzz and the parking with it.

Getting there and parking

Kalaroo Road runs through the village, with on-street parking on the surrounding streets that fills during the morning rush. The Fernleigh Track connects to Redhead via local side streets, so walking in with the dog is easy.
