Pina Potts Point

Pina sits on Orwell Street but keeps its outdoor tables down in Llankelly Place, the pedestrian laneway at the centre of Potts Point's cafe run, and it is part of the same group behind Room 10 around the corner. The menu plays with heat and texture: a chilli oil that regulars ask about, a curry omelette, a prawn roll and a prawn burger for the seafood minded, and a seri sourdough pancake that has become the order to photograph. Worth knowing about the dogs

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables in the Llankelly Place laneway, according to dog friendly listings. The laneway setting does most of the work: no through traffic, shade through the middle of the day, and tables close enough together that a well-settled dog under the chair is easy. Doors open at 7am daily and the kitchen runs to 3pm, so the early service is the relaxed one; by 11am the laneway is at full voice.

Service speed is the one recurring note in guest feedback, so go with the laneway's pace rather than against it: order, clip the lead, and let the people watching fill the gap. It is a compact room and the laneway tables go first on weekends, which is another argument for the 7am slot with a dog.
