Boy & Bloom

Boy & Bloom is a family-run coastal cafe at 48 Cliff Avenue, Port Noarlunga South, pouring Dawn Patrol specialty coffee a short walk from the sand. It goes further than most on the dog front: alongside the outdoor seating there is a dedicated menu for dogs, which puts it near the top of the southern suburbs list for a beachside brunch with your dog in tow.

The dog setup

Dogs settle with you in the outdoor seating area, which runs to roughly ten sheltered seats plus a couple of dozen unsheltered ones, so there is usually a table even on busy weekend mornings. Water bowls are provided, and the dog menu covers the extras, from a puppuccino topped with bacon crumble or carob to baked treats made for dogs rather than repurposed from the pastry section. Dogs need to be friendly, well behaved and on a lead. If your dog struggles with other animals, the unsheltered tables spread a little wider than the covered row.

Worth knowing

The kitchen covers proper brunch: haloumi bagels, chilli scramble, eggs benedict and frittatas, with vegan options alongside. Hours run 6:30am to 2pm on weekdays and from 7am on weekends, both to 2pm, so it is a morning venue. It is also set up for families, with high chairs and a kids menu, which makes it an easy multi-generation stop where the dog is genuinely catered for rather than merely allowed.

Getting there and parking

Cliff Avenue runs off the esplanade strip at Port Noarlunga South, with street parking along the avenue and around the surrounding streets. The beach, the lookout and the coastal walk are all on foot from the door, so park once and leave the car.

The Flour Store up the hill at Port Noarlunga is a solid second coffee stop, and DUKE'S Cafe at Moana covers the next beach south. For a weekday run, Coffee Factory Cafe is minutes away on the same side of the suburb.
