Borough Chambers

Borough Chambers occupies a restored heritage-listed former civic building at 20 Bank Street, the heart of Port Fairy, pouring ST. ALi coffee from 6:30am daily with the kitchen wrapping at 2pm. Dogs are welcome at the footpath tables out the front, so it works as a morning coffee stop on the main strip before a beach or river walk.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the street-side footpath tables on lead. There is no courtyard, so outdoor seating on Bank Street is the only dog option, and you will want to bring your own water bowl to be safe. Keep the lead short: the footpath gets busy in summer and during the Port Fairy Folk Festival, so this suits dogs that settle at your feet on a working street.

The menu

The daytime menu runs to wholesome breakfast fare: bacon and egg rolls, a pistachio croissant that regulars chase, and a flat white or latte from the ST. ALi machine. The building switches gears later, running as a bar and kitchen in the evenings and doubling as a community wellness space, but for dogs the daytime coffee hours are the window that matters.

Getting there and parking

On-street parking is available along Bank Street and the side streets, though spaces fill quickly over summer and on festival weekends, so be ready to walk a block or two with the dog.

The Moyne River walk is a couple of minutes away for a paved on-lead stroll, and East Beach is within easy reach for a longer leg-stretch, with seasonal off-leash rules posted on Moyne Shire signs. The fenced Koroit dog park is the dedicated run if you are driving in from the north, and Warrnambool's Victoria Park community dog park is the bigger option up the highway. For another dog-friendly feed, the historic Merrijig Kitchen is the local institution.
