MotMot - Coffee & Eats

MotMot - Coffee & Eats is a small specialty coffee shop in the shopping precinct on Whites Road, Petrie, and the front footpath tables are where the dogs sit. It is a breakfast-and-brunch operation rather than an all-day kitchen, which makes it the natural first stop on a dog walk day: coffee and a breakfast burger before 1pm, then a park on the way home.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor footpath seating out the front, on lead and close to your table. The space is compact and foot traffic passes close by, so it suits settled, well-mannered dogs more than freshly-unclipped zoomies. Water bowls are typically provided and the staff are known for being easy-going with four-legged regulars. There is no indoor access for pets, so pick your table when you arrive rather than after.

Max: the footpath tables are snug, so park your dog between your chair and the wall, not in the walkway. Weekend mornings get a queue.

Worth knowing

The coffee is the draw, with a strong local following for the specialty brews, and the kitchen turns out generous breakfast burgers, wraps and corn fritters plus vegetarian and vegan options. Hours run Tuesday to Friday from 6:30am to 1pm, weekends from 7am to 1pm, and the doors are shut Mondays, so time your dog-walk coffee accordingly.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits at Shop 5/6 Whites Road, Petrie, near the Dayboro Road intersection and just off Anzac Avenue. There is free parking in the complex with street parking on Whites Road as backup, and Petrie station is a short drive away.

Make a day of it

For an off-lead run first, Sweeney Reserve Fenced Dog Park and Mungarra Reserve Fenced Dog Park are both in Petrie, and Freshwater Reserve Fenced Dog Park at Kallangur is one suburb over. All three pair neatly with a MotMot breakfast.
