Karma Cafe

Karma Cafe is the healthy-eating anchor of the Parap village strip in Darwin, all smoothie bowls, fresh juices and generous all-day breakfasts, and dogs are genuinely welcome at the outdoor tables rather than just tolerated. It runs 7am to 2pm weekdays and 7:30am to 2pm on weekends.

The dog setup

Dogs settle at the footpath and courtyard tables out the front, where there is room to tie a lead beside your chair. The team has been known to offer free puppy treats to canine visitors, and the welcome is warm rather than grudging. Because the seating sits right on the shopping strip, keep your dog leashed and close so foot traffic can pass.

Worth knowing

The menu runs to acai bowls, smoothies, eggs benedict and solid vegan options, with portion sizes that regularly catch people out, in a good way. There is also a meal-prep counter if you want something healthy to take home. The cafe draws a steady local crowd, so outdoor tables fill fast on Saturday mornings when the Parap Village Markets are running a short walk away.

Getting there and parking

It is at 12 Salonika Street in the Parap village shops, about 10 minutes drive from the Darwin CBD. Free street parking lines Salonika Street and the surrounding side streets, and anywhere in the village is an easy flat walk in. Footpath seating policies can shift with council rules, so it is worth confirming the current setup at the counter.

Close by with the dogs

Fellow Parap cafes Laneway Coffee Darwin and Fresh Point Co both work as backups on the same strip. For a proper walk afterwards, the Bundilla fenced dog park at Fannie Bay is a short drive north.
