Pepina Coffee Van

Pepina Coffee Van, formerly Betty Blue, is a vintage coffee caravan parked among the Madeley Street shops in Ocean Grove. Everything happens outdoors at the window, which makes it the kind of stop you can fold into a morning walk with the dog without a second thought.

The dog setup

Service is from the van window with open-air tables and chairs around it, so your dog stays with you the whole time and you never leave them to order. Local dog walkers pass through regularly and the setup is well used to them. Bring your own water bowl, particularly on warmer mornings when the caravan has none to spare.

The vibe

The coffee is specialty roast from Piccolo Coffee Roasters, served with Jersey milk or alternative milks, and there are cold drinks, toasties and a rotating line of sweet treats and baked goods. The crowd is neighbourhood regulars, kids on bikes and dog walkers, and the tone is unhurried coastal suburb rather than destination cafe.

It trades mornings only, from 8am to midday daily. Hours can shift with weather and season, so check the van's Instagram before a special trip.

Getting there and parking

The van sits at 65 Madeley Street, Ocean Grove. Free street parking is generally available on Madeley Street and the surrounding residential blocks, and it is an easy walk if you are already in the local shops.

Make a day of it

Point the walk towards the coast and finish at the Ocean Grove Dog's Beach for a sand session, or take the longer option on the Ocean Grove to Barwon Heads trail with the coffee in hand.
