The BreakWater Cafe, Bar & Kitchen

The BreakWater Cafe, Bar & Kitchen operates out of the North Haven Surf Life Saving Club at 44 Australia Two Avenue, right on the beachfront at the northern end of Adelaide's coastal strip. It runs an unusual week: closed Monday to Wednesday, Thursday dinner from 5pm, Friday from 8am through the evening with meat raffles, Saturday 8am to late with beach-club afternoons from 4pm, and Sunday recovery breakfast until 3pm.

The dog setup

Dogs are allowed in the outdoor seating areas around the surf club, where water bowls and the occasional treat are on offer. Keep your dog leashed and settled at the table; the deck is shared with swimmers, kids and patrol traffic in summer. This is a small, newer listing with limited detail online, so confirm dog access with staff when you book, especially for evening service.

Worth knowing

The drawcard is the position: wide coastal views over the marina wall, sunsets down the Gulf St Vincent, and an affordable freshly cooked menu covering breakfast, lunch and dinner rather than a snack kiosk. Thursday nights carry quiz nights and Friday evenings run raffles, so the crowd shifts from families at breakfast to a club night later on. Private functions can change the hours, another reason to book ahead.

Getting there and parking

North Haven sits about 25 minutes from the Adelaide CBD via Port Wakefield Road or Grand Junction Road. Free parking is in the surf club car park and along the surrounding streets, and the cafe is a short walk from the marina boardwalk.

While you're out there

The beach in front of the club follows City of Port Adelaide Enfield rules: off-lead year round outside daylight savings, but on-lead from 10am to 8pm between October and March, with footpaths always on-lead.
