Line Up Coffee

Line Up Coffee sits at the northern end of Pakington Street in Newtown, at 400 to 404 Pakington Street. It is one of the genuinely dog-welcoming cafes on the strip, taking dogs indoors as well as out, which is a real advantage on a cold or wet Geelong morning.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome inside the spacious industrial-styled room and at the outdoor tables. The interior has room to settle a dog beside the table without blocking the floor, and staff have a good name with the canine regulars. A dog bakery sits a few doors down the strip for treats to take home. On busy weekends, arrive early if you want the indoor option with your dog before the brunch rush lands.

The vibe and the menu

The house-made waffles are the signature, including gluten-free waffles and the Canadian brekkie waffle, backed by specialty coffee with cold brew and a proper brunch menu covering eggs benedict and bagels. It is a busy, well-rated spot, so expect a wait at peak. Hours run 7am to 3:30pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 3pm on weekends.

Getting there and parking

Free street parking is usually available out front or on the side streets, and Pakington Street bus routes stop close by. The cafe sits on the Newtown side of the strip, an easy on-lead walk from Geelong West.

Close by with the dogs

For the off-lead run, Zillah Crawcour Park on the Barwon River is a conditional dogs-off-leash reserve a few minutes away, and the river trail gives a long on-lead walk either side of it. Wilsonson Heights Dog Park is the suburb's fenced option. If you are pairing stops, The Birch Geelong on Pakington Street keeps a dedicated dog treats menu, and Barmuda is the other Newtown regular.
