Modo Mia

Modo Mia is a hybrid cafe and grocery hub at Unit 1/9 Mill Park Drive in Mill Park, part coffee stop and part well-stocked corner store. It is a local's venue for a takeaway coffee or a quick breakfast, with outdoor seating where dogs are welcome.

The dog setup

Dogs stay outside with you at the outdoor seating, cafe style rather than a dedicated dog area. There is no dog menu and on-site water for dogs is not confirmed, so bring your own bowl and check with staff on arrival, as the arrangement can shift day to day.

Worth knowing

Locals rate the coffee among the better ones in Melbourne's north, and the offering goes well beyond a standard cafe: breakfast and brunch plates, quick bites and desserts in front, plus a curated grocery range behind them, including Greek, Italian and Macedonian products alongside milk and fresh eggs. Hours run long, 7am to 9pm weekdays, 7:30am Saturdays and 8am Sundays, so it also covers an evening run if the coffee is not enough.

Find it at Unit 1/9 Mill Park Drive, Mill Park, with free onsite and street parking and step-free, wheelchair-accessible entry, which makes loading up a dog in the car simple.

Make a day of it

The standout nearby run is the fenced Redleap Reserve dog off-leash area, about 1.5 kilometres northwest, split into a main zone and a small-dog zone with a water tap and agility features. Mimosa Park is closer for an on-lead stroll but has no dedicated off-leash area. If you want a sit-down brunch instead, St Ivy Cafe at South Morang takes dogs at its lakeside tables.

Treat it as the coffee-and-groceries leg of the morning with the run happening before it, not after.
