Blitz Bar at 1 Como Parade West is a self-serve acai and coffee bar right across from Mentone station, a few minutes from the bay. It is a quick, healthy stop rather than a sit-down meal, and the team are openly dog-keen.

The dog setup. Best plan is the footpath tables out front, where one person can stay with the dog while the other builds a bowl at the self-serve counter. The setting is urban Como Parade, so it is a footpath spot rather than a courtyard. Water bowls are often out and staff welcome dogs. Keep your dog leashed and close, as the footpath is high-traffic.

Good to know. The draw is the build-your-own acai with a wide topping range, plus specialty coffee and matcha, and a fully dairy-free, vegan and gluten-free menu. Long daily hours (roughly 8am to 10pm) make it an easy after-beach treat.

Getting there. Free street parking runs along Como Parade and the side streets. It sits directly across from Mentone station on the Frankston line, so it is about as easy as car-free gets.

Nearby with the dogs. Mentone Beach is minutes away, with off-leash sand at the western end between Charman and Plummer Roads, and the foreshore reserve path runs alongside.

When to go. Any time outside the after-school and weekend rush, when the footpath tables turn over fast. Suits a settled dog comfortable on a busy street corner.
