Ol' Coterie

Ol' Coterie is a specialty coffee cafe and evening dining room at 66a Farnborough Road, Meikleville Hill, a few minutes south of the Yeppoon foreshore, and it takes dogs far more seriously than most. Dogs are welcome indoors as well as outside, with the venue supplying beds, water bowls and its own treats, which makes it an easy choice on humid Capricorn Coast mornings.

The dog setup

This is one of the rare cafes on this stretch of coast where your dog can come right inside. Ol' Coterie keeps dog beds on the floor, puts out water bowls, and has lead tether points on the walls so you can settle your dog safely while you eat. There are dedicated dog treats and pup cups on the menu too, so no need to pack your own. Friendly, settled dogs are the expectation; bring your lead for walking in and out, even though the hooks handle the rest.

The vibe and the menu

The room is cosy and modern without being precious about dogs on the floor. Coffee is the headline: specialty espresso plus alternative lattes, including mushroom coffee for something different. The food runs to banana bread, bagels, wholesome breakfast plates and a kids menu, with gluten free options covered, and the kitchen shifts to share-style tapas for evening sessions. Sunday sessions bring live local music and a community feel.

Getting there and parking

You will find it on Farnborough Road heading towards Farnborough Beach, with free street parking in the surrounding streets. Hours run early mornings Monday to Saturday, with Sunday open from 7am into the evening. If you are planning an evening visit with the dog, confirm the current session times on the cafe's site first, as the dinner service schedule changes with the seasons.

Close by with the dogs

Farnborough Beach is just down the road for a pre or post coffee walk, though check the council signage for the current leash rules on your stretch. If you are heading into Yeppoon afterwards, Chapter and The Cheeky Fork are both dog friendly options in town, as is Cafe 63 Yeppoon.
