Customs House Hotel Maryborough

The Customs House Hotel is an 1868 heritage building at 116 Wharf Street in Maryborough's Portside precinct, now the home of Wide Bay Brewing Co. Dogs are welcome across its outdoor areas, which makes a heritage beer garden with on-site craft beer an easy lunch stop with your dog in town.

The dog setup

Dogs are taken in the rear courtyard and the open-air beer garden, not inside the historic dining room or bar. Water bowls are put out in the outdoor zones and staff are accommodating to dog owners. The courtyard fills on a fine day, so keep your dog on a short lead and expect to squeeze through a busy space at peak times.

Worth knowing

The kitchen runs a cafe-style menu of breakfast, brunch and lunch, from hearty breakfast plates and burgers to house-made lasagne and desserts. The Wide Bay Brewing Co taps pour the venue's own craft beer by the pint, in tasting paddles or takeaway, alongside coffee. Trading runs Wednesday to Friday from 9am to 2pm (bar from 10am) and weekends from 8am to 2pm, closed Monday and Tuesday.

Getting there and parking

Free street parking is generally available along Wharf Street and the surrounding heritage-precinct blocks, and the precinct is compact enough to walk from the central business area.

Close by with the dogs

The Portside precinct around the hotel is built for a heritage walk with Mary River views, and Queens Park is a short stroll for an on-lead wander through the botanical gardens. For a proper off-lead run, Rambo Dog Park on Neptune Street is the local dog park, and Tinana Fenced Dog Park across the river is fully fenced and open around the clock.
