Eat Ozzo

Eat Ozzo is a sandwich-focused cafe at Shop 4, 93 Chapel Street, in the Marrickville Traders complex, and it is explicitly pet-friendly: well-behaved dogs are welcome in the outdoor and street-side seating. It is the natural coffee stop when you are walking the dog through the Marrickville industrial pocket, with its breweries, creative spaces and strip of local makers.

The dog setup

Set your dog up at the outdoor, street-side tables, and give the entrance area of the Traders complex a miss when it gets busy, because foot traffic funnels through it. Staff are known to be friendly to dogs and water bowls are often on hand, but carry your own bowl on warm days. Keep the lead tied short and the dog settled, since this is a working street rather than a plaza.

The sandwiches

The hearty wood-fired sandwiches are the signature here, built on quality ingredients with the salami drawing particular praise, backed by good coffee, fresh pastries and matcha. Time Out has been among the outlets to call the sandwiches addictive. It runs a high-energy community room rather than a quiet brunch space. Hours are roughly 7:15am to 2:30pm weekdays and 7am to 4pm on weekends.

Getting there and parking

Street parking is available on Chapel Street and surrounding streets like Sydenham Road, and it fills quickly on weekends. The cafe is about a 10-minute walk from Sydenham station, which makes it an easy arrival on foot with a dog already on the lead.

Nearby with the dogs

For off-lead time, the Sydenham Green Fenced Dog Park is close by and fully fenced, and Henson Park's eastern hill is a designated off-leash area when no sporting events are running, with dogs on-lead or excluded on game days under Inner West Council rules. The Cooks River Cycleway is a short ride south for an on-lead stretch along the water. Two Chaps is the other well-known Marrickville stop if you are pairing venues.
