The Point Cafe(Marmong Point)

The Point Cafe sits inside Marmong Point Marina on the shore of Lake Macquarie, a casual waterside cafe where you can eat with boats a few metres away. It is a walkers and cyclists stop as much as a marina one, and dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, which makes it an easy breakfast or lunch target for a lakeside outing.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor, undercover seating area beside the marina, on a leash and under control around other patrons and the usual boat traffic. Only service animals go inside the cafe itself. Water for dogs is generally on hand at the outdoor area, though a backup bowl from your bag covers the busy stretches.

The food and hours

The menu is casual and generous for the price: bacon and egg rolls and breakfast wraps in the morning, burgers, BLTs and fish and chips through lunch, with coffee that keeps the regulars coming back. Hours are 8:30am to 2pm Monday to Friday, 8am to midday Saturday, closed Sundays, so plan the marina visit around a morning or lunch slot.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is at 4/1 Nanda Street, Marmong Point, within the marina grounds on the western shore of the lake. Free parking is available in the marina car park, and it is a short, level walk from the car to the cafe and the foreshore paths.

Close by with the dogs

The Booragul dog exercise area on Marmong Street is leash-free at all times and effectively next door, which is rare for a cafe run. A few minutes north, the Speers Point fenced dog park adds agility equipment and water stations. Tinto Espresso Bar and Infuzion Cafe in Toronto is the nearest other dog-friendly cafe on PawScapes.
