CJ MOBILE CAFE

CJ Mobile Cafe is the coffee van in the main Lilydale Lake car park, a staple for walkers finishing the lake circuit. It is casual, outdoors and very used to dogs.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the open area around the van; being a van, your seating is the park itself, with spots to stand or sit by the lake. The van keeps dog treats on hand. Keep your dog leashed here, since the car park and surrounding paths are high-traffic. Water taps for dogs are dotted around the park.

Good to know. The draw is the coffee, widely rated among the best in Lilydale, run by Chris and Karen. Open Tuesday to Friday and weekends; closed Mondays except public holidays. Hours shift seasonally, so check before a special trip.

Getting there. 435 Swansea Road, Lilydale. A large free car park sits right next to the van, with flat access onto the lake trails.

Nearby with the dogs. The north-west off-leash area is on the same circuit, and the 2.6 km loop starts at your feet.

Grab a coffee before or after the lake walk. Weekends are busiest mid-morning; a weekday is quieter all round.
