Cake o'clock is a cake and dessert cafe in the Quadrant Mall, and it is one of Launceston's most genuinely dog-welcoming spots: dogs are allowed inside as well as out, and the kitchen even bakes custom puppy cakes.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor footpath tables in the pedestrian mall and inside the cafe too, so wet weather does not end the visit. Keep the dog leashed and settled. They make dog-friendly puppy cakes to order, a real treat for the dog; bring your own water bowl as well.

Good to know. The cafe specialises in cakes by the slice, custom and specialty desserts, quality coffee and iced teas. The mall setting is flat and pedestrian-only.

Indoors-welcome plus a cake made just for me is about as good as a cafe stop gets.

Getting there. Address is Unit 3/13 Quadrant Mall. Street parking is around the central blocks (mind the meters), with paid parking on Paterson Street and Cimitiere Street nearby. Easiest reached on foot through the mall.

Nearby with the dogs. City Park is a few blocks away with open grass and gardens, and the Tamar River edge is a short walk north for a riverside stroll.

When to go. Good in any weather given the indoor option; off-peak is calmest if your dog prefers fewer passers-by.
