Unwined Lane Cove

Unwined is the small espresso bar on Rosenthal Avenue in the Lane Cove village, built for speed rather than a long sit: a street-side bench row, a tight morning menu and baristas who move a queue quickly. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating, and the 6am opening makes it a genuinely useful first stop for dog walkers doing the village circuit before work. Treat it as a casual coffee leg in a walk, not a brunch destination.

The dog setup

The street-side tables along Rosenthal Avenue are where dogs go, on a lead. Staff will usually bring a water bowl out on request, and takeaway keeps things moving if the dog is restless. The avenue carries steady morning foot traffic and the tables sit close to the walkway, so a dog that tucks in under the bench has the easiest time.

The coffee and food

The espresso is the point: barista coffee in the usual sizes plus an extra-large 16 ounce option for the long-haul commute crowd, and a better tea selection than most espresso bars bother with. Food is deliberately simple and morning-focused, with the bacon and egg roll and the heartier tradie roll as signatures, plus rotating weekend bakery items. Hours are 6am to midday Monday to Saturday and 7am to midday Sunday, so the whole operation is a morning affair.

Getting there and parking

The address is 22 Rosenthal Avenue, Lane Cove. The Rosenthal Avenue car park is immediately behind the strip and the Lane Cove bus interchange is a couple of minutes on foot, which suits anyone pairing the stop with public transport. Parking is paid in the surrounding structure and streets, but a coffee-and-roll stop rarely outlasts the free period.

Close by with the dogs

The Canopy, the village's community green next door, is a pleasant leg-stretch but dogs stay on leash on its footpaths and are kept off the Village Green and playground edges, so do not plan an off-lead run there. For that, Blackman Park Fenced Dog Park is a short drive west with double-gated runs, or Tambourine Bay Park Dog off-leash area in Riverview pairs bush and water.
