The Fern & Anchor

The Fern & Anchor is a boutique cafe on the western shore of Lake Illawarra, a handy stop before or after a lakeside walk with the dog. Dogs are welcome in the rear courtyard, a shaded, rustic space that's become known locally as one of the more relaxed cafe patios in the area.

Nearby with the dogs. Reddall Reserve and the lakefront walking tracks are a short walk or drive away, with open space, shade and a quiet foreshore path that suits most dogs. It's an easy pairing: walk first, coffee after, or the other way round.

Mornings and early lunch are the easiest times to get a courtyard table with a dog in tow, especially on weekends when the lakefront walks bring extra foot traffic through. Confirm the pet policy hasn't changed at busy periods, but on a normal day this is a straightforward, dog-welcoming stop.
