Cruize Espresso

Cruize Espresso runs out of Shop 6, 37 Musgrave Avenue in Labrador, on the leafy corner near Turpin Road, and it has quietly become one of the Gold Coast's better-loved breakfast stops. It is a bright, cheerful cafe with a shaded deck out front where dogs are welcome, and the kitchen turns out all-day breakfast until late afternoon.

The dog setup

Dogs join you on the shaded, pet-friendly deck outside; the bench seating inside is for people only, so plan on an outdoor table. Staff have built a reputation for being accommodating with dogs, though it is worth bringing your own water bowl rather than assuming one is on hand. The deck gets sun through the morning, so a shaded corner table is the pick on warm days.

The vibe

The coffee is the Italian-style Merlo blend, and the menu leans proper cafe breakfast: corn fritters, eggs done your way, avocado smash, benedict, acai bowls and a loaded breaky roll, with vegetarian and vegan options across the board. Muffins, toasted croissants and doughnuts cover the pastry side. Free wifi, wheelchair accessibility and table service round it out, and the room runs sunny and light with a small garden feel.

Getting there and parking

There is ample parking near the corner of Turpin Road and Musgrave Avenue, with street parking around the block if the closest spots fill. It is an easy drive-in venue and much easier midweek than on a weekend morning, when the breakfast crowd arrives early. The cafe runs from 6am most days, closing at 4pm on weekdays and Saturdays and 3pm on Sundays.

Close by with the dogs

The Labrador foreshore and Broadwater Parklands are about five minutes away for a proper water-view walk, and the suburb has its own off-leash options if you want a run before coffee. It works well as an easy coffee stop on the way to the Broadwater, or as the calm-down after one.
