Lounge Room

Lounge Room is a cosy cafe and wood-fired pizza bar in the Kingsborough Village precinct, a short walk back from the Kingston Foreshore in Canberra. It runs two personalities: coffee and pastries through the morning, then 9-inch pizzas, local wine and tap beer from late afternoon. Dog-friendly seating outside covers both.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor courtyard and footpath area, which sits in a pedestrian-friendly hub where foot traffic is calm and tables are spaced out. One water bowl is not guaranteed, so bring your own. Keep your dog leashed and settled; it is a small venue and the courtyard fills quickly on weekend mornings.

The vibe

Mornings run on ONA coffee with toasties and pastries, and the day list stretches to tiramisu, wood-fired pizza and cocktails. Evening service runs Wednesday to Sunday, with a 7am start on weekdays and 8am on weekends, finishing around 8:30pm. It is as much neighbourhood bar as cafe by evening, and the vibe reviewers single out is unhurried and local.

Getting there and parking

The address is 10/19 Parbery Street, Kingston. Street parking around Parbery and the surrounding Kingsborough streets is limited, and the easiest approach is on foot from the foreshore after a lakeside walk. Buses along Wentworth Avenue put you within a short walk too.

Close by with the dogs

Norgrove Park is nearby for a quick run before or after a meal, and the walkable Kingsborough paths sit right outside. If you are cafe-hopping, Good Neighbour Cafe is around the corner, ONA's Fyshwick coffee house is the roaster's own sit-down spot a suburb away, and the Kingston Hotel in Griffith covers the pub-dinner end.
