Moss Black Cafe/Druk Fusion

Moss Black Cafe, also known as Druk Fusion, is a quiet Asian-fusion cafe on Cardigan Terrace in Jolimont, tucked between Subiaco and Wembley. It is worth knowing for two reasons: an unusual Bhutanese-fusion menu, and outdoor tables where dogs are welcome while you work through the coffee list.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor alfresco seating, and the cafe appears in Perth dog-friendly cafe roundups on the strength of that setup. The indoor room is for people only, so confirm any indoor request with staff on arrival. The alfresco is compact and residential, which suits a settled dog on lead; bring your own water bowl, as one is not always out.

The vibe

The drawcard is the Bhutanese side of the menu: steamed momos with a proper spicy sauce and chow mein sit alongside the usual cafe line of rolls on sunflower, multigrain or sourdough, toasties, pies and homemade sausage rolls, with fresh French croissants in the cabinet. The coffee gets regular praise, iced mochas included, and reviewers consistently single out the friendly, hands-on owner. It is a low-key neighbourhood room rather than a scene.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is on Cardigan Terrace, Jolimont, a short walk from the Subiaco side of the railway line. Street parking is available on Cardigan Terrace and the surrounding residential streets, tightening around lunch. Trading runs mornings into early afternoon with a 2pm-ish close most days, but the weekly roster differs between listings, so check the cafe's socials before a specific-day trip, particularly early in the week or on a weekend.

Close by with the dogs

Lake Monger Dog Park is a few minutes' drive north, with a fenced exercise area and water stations beside the lake circuit, and Montario Quarter Hillside Park Fenced Dog Park covers the Daglish side.
