Brewhaha

Brewhaha is the warm, family-run cafe at 286-288 Peats Ferry Road in Hornsby, a short walk from the station, done out in retro American diner style with vintage motorcycle and racing memorabilia through the room. The streetside outdoor tables are where dogs are welcome, and the big breakfasts make it a proper stop rather than a quick coffee.

Water bowls are usually available on request, but carrying your own keeps things simple at peak times. If the streetside tables are taken there is no indoor fallback for dogs, so time your visit or be prepared to wait.

The kitchen runs all-day breakfast and modern Australian fare with vegetarian options, known for eggs benedict, the croque madame, brekkie risotto and house-made cakes, with coffee served with a biscotti on the side. Hours are 7am to 3pm Monday to Thursday, 7am to 9pm Friday and Saturday, and 8am to 3pm Sunday, so Friday and Saturday nights run long past the usual cafe cutoff.

Peats Ferry Road sits below the Hornsby town centre, close to the station if you are arriving by train, with free street parking on the surrounding streets. Weekday mornings are the easiest time to claim an outdoor table before the local brunch crowd builds.
